In her paper object on the subject of DAS, Susanne Haun has used a format that is familiar to her: the roll format. She used Hahnemühle Veneto watercolor board 325 g/m² rough from the roll and first drew her thoughts on the poetry of Mascha Koléko with ink and pen. The subsequent sewing with green thread created “small” horizontal loops that served as free space for the artist’s unspoken words, which found space in the loops in the form of waste paper from the studio. In addition to the drawings inspired by Mascha Kaléko’s poetry, Haun calligraphed lines from the poem DAS onto the paper. The materiality of the paper is visible everywhere; the paper resists the loops and wants to reveal the unspoken words. With aluminum rails at the top and bottom, the work is ready to hang immediately.
